Maple Syrup Recipes : Desserts
PrintWalnut Gingerbread Cake
makes one 8" square cake
INGREDIENTS:
- ½ cup sugar
- 1½ cup flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ginger
- ¼ tsp allspice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Sift together dry ingredients (sugar, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and spices).
Combine wet ingredients (oil, syrup, sour cream and egg).
Add wet ingredients to dry and beat well.
Pour into 8" square cake pan. Sprinkle walnuts over top of cake.
Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes. Serve with whipped cream dusted with nutmeg.
